Antarctica became a popular tourist destination with about 70,000 tourists in season. Most tourists get to Antarctica on boats and use power to get warm and move around. There are also over 70 research stations using power and drilling in the ice. It is estimated that human activity in Antarctica melts 83 metric tonnes of snow.
