New research found that people who had COVID-19 are at much higher risk of developing diabetes even up to a year after being sick. Even people who had symptomless COVID-19 face that risk. Almost all detected diabetes cases from COVID-19 recoveries were diabetes type 2 – where the body stops producing or getting resistant to insulin.
