The world’s longest underwater avalanche was discovered

Seabed sediments in the Atlantic ocean traveled for 1,100 km down to the depth of 4,500 meters. The avalanche started in the Congo Canyon river estuary to the deep sea. This information will help further our knowledge of how the deep sea is affected by rivers.
