Bringing back the cells to their totipotent state

Stem cells are totipotent, meaning they have the potential to turn into any cell, and they lose this ability as an embryo develops and the stem cells differentiate into different cell types. Scientists from Weizmann Institute in Israel found a way to turn cells back into a totipotent state. This discovery could have a far-reaching effect on fighting diseases such as cancer.
