Sad breaking record in the Amazon forest: January’s deforestation much higher than last year

An area 5 times larger than January last year was cut down. 430 square kilometers were deforested, an area more than 8 times larger than Tel Aviv. Brazil’s president, Jair Bolsonaro, is being accused by environmentalists of accelerating deforestation instead of reversing it, as promised in the climate summit in Glasgow last year.
