Immigration to Orkney in the Bronze age was led by a woman

DNA samples from remains in Orkney, the Scottish archipelago, reveal that women were the majority and most likely the leaders of the immigration to the northern islands. The lineage of the first women from the Bronze age was later replaced by man for another 1,000 years in the Iron age.
