Alligators exposed to high levels of PFAS suffer from autoimmune conditions

A study done on alligators in Cape Fear river found they had an elevated level of 14 different PFAS chemicals. As a result of the high exposure, the alligators suffered from autoimmune conditions such as ulcerative colitis and thyroid disease. They also suffered from lesions and infections which are very rare for alligators.
