A hurican hit the island of Sicily in southern Italy

A hurricane called “Medicane” that came from the Mediterranean Sea hit the island of Sicily in southern Italy starting yesterday, Sunday 10/25, in the city of Catania.

The winds at this point continue to be strong.

One man was killed and his wife is reported missing as from yesterday. The man was killed when his car was swept away in the floods caused by the storm.

The storm is expected to reach its peak between Thursday and Friday and residents of the area have been asked not to leave their homes except in emergencies.

It is also reported by an Italian weather website that the seawater temperature in the area has risen by 8 degrees from the average temperature at this time of year usually, due to the situation
