An Experiment in Uganda’s Chimpanzee sanctuary revealed that they could foresee different options in the future, and prepare for them ahead of time. The experiment was done with the help of a Y-shaped tube and a tray of food, where the scientists threw a rock into the tube, and the chimps had to stabilize the tray the rock would fall into, otherwise, the scientists get the food. 13 out of 15 chimps stabilized both trays, showing they considered the two optional future outcomes.
