High seas treaty failed to come up with a plan of action

The U.N high seas treaty committee met on Friday to discuss a plan for the protection of open oceans beyond national jurisdictions. There was no agreement for a plan of action and no additional talks on the subject are planned in the foreseen future. Less than one percent of the open seas are protected.
